Testing as a profession has evolved in the national IT landscape always in the shadow of the more “good-looking” relative – SW Development. As everything IT-related is in a continuous shift, always changing and, hopefully, improving- so has the Testing profession, with different responsibilities and hectic tasks. Testing is far from the classic divide between Manual and Automatic, coming to include business oriented roles as the ones of Defect manager, Interface Owner or Test Manager. Let’s dive right into some of these hot topics starting with the wide array of Test Academy/ Test Reskilling programs and the emerging Test Managers challenges.

Horatiu Constantin Palade is a software engineer, Tower Lead and Test Manager at Accenture, has a Bachelor in Computer Science and also in Law, double Masters degree and currently a PhD student in the field of Management and Engineering at Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu. During my IT career, I have tinkered with both sides of the force, started as an embedded developer and moved towards testing and furthermore management activities, focusing on the learning experiences. Interests and abilities range from people management and leadership to Automotive, Knowledge management and Big Data. Passionate about IT industry trends and hyped buzzwords - these “technical revolutions” that shape the world around us.
